Company Origins

SailProof was founded in 2020 to create rugged, waterproof tablets designed for the maritime sector. The company emerged from a recognized need among European sailors for reliable, durable devices capable of withstanding harsh marine environments. Its inception was rooted in the personal experiences of its founders, who sought an affordable, long-lasting solution for tracking and navigating their sailing adventures.

Early Development

The journey began during visits to Shenzhen, China, where waterproof tablets primarily intended for industrial and logistics sectors were evaluated. After testing these initial models, they were found unsuitable for maritime use, prompting the decision to develop a tablet specifically tailored to sailors’ needs.

Refined Specifications

SailProof set out to create a tablet incorporating essential features for sailing: a high-capacity battery capable of lasting a full day at sea, a screen readable in full sunlight, an IP67 waterproof and shockproof casing, a high-quality GNSS (GPS) chip, a powerful processor, sufficient memory, and an Android operating system providing access to a wide range of applications. As no existing product met all these requirements, the founders collaborated with manufacturing partners to develop a custom solution. After three years of testing and refinement, the SailProof SP08 rugged tablet was launched in June 2020.

Market Presence and Growth

Today, SailProof has established itself as a promising player in the marine-grade technology market, offering devices designed to withstand the unique challenges of the marine environment. Its tablets have been used in prestigious competitions such as the America’s Cup and have attracted attention for their innovative approach to marine technology.

Commitment to Customer Feedback

SailProof remains strongly committed to customer feedback, actively incorporating it into ongoing product development. By engaging with the sailing community through forums and social media, the company ensures its products continue to meet evolving user needs. In addition, its well-regarded customer service provides tailored support, reinforcing SailProof’s reputation as a trusted name in marine technology.
